Functions and Structure of the SPGA

The South Pacific Games Authority (SPGA) is a statutory body set up by the Government of Samoa under the 2007 South Pacific Games Authority 2002 Act, (Act), for the specific purpose of preparing, facilitating and conducting the 13th South Pacific Games in 2007 to be hosted in Apia, Samoa.

The Authority reports to a Board of Directors, led by Chairperson, Hon. Faumuina Tiatia Liuga; Minister for Works, Infrastucture and Transport, and Deputy Chair, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa Faumuina Mulinuu II; Minister for Education, Sport and Culture.
Since winning the Bid in 2002, SPGA in partnership with the Samoa Association of Sports and the National Olympic Committee (SASNOC) and key stakeholders have embarked on the preparations for the Games with the utmost determination and enthusiasm. This event is an enormous undertaking and SPGA aims to produce the 2007 Games with excellence, efficiency and the finest Samoan hospitality.

The South Pacific Games Authority is headed by Manogiamanu Fonoti Etuale Ioane.  Fonoti is well known in the Architectural, Quantity Surveying and Civil Engineering Community.
