The Samoa 2007 XIII South Pacific Games will offer a special and dynamic experience for athletes and spectators; an experience created largely by up to 3000 volunteers from around Samoa and the Pacific region.
Volunteers will come together to learn valuable skills, gain new experience and share the excitement of volunteering in a spectacular regional event and you could be one of them.
Recruitment for Games-time volunteers has begun, so register your interest and become a volunteer. Pre-Games volunteer positions are also available for registration.
Don’t worry if you are not sure how much time you are able to give this year – you are not committing yourself to anything just yet. We’ll simply keep you on file so that when appropriate positions arise we can let you know about them.
It’s important to remember that the recruitment and selection of volunteers for the Samoa 2007 XIII South Pacific Games will not be organized on a first come, first served basis. Instead, volunteers will be selected for a number of reasons including their individual skills and especially their volunteering experience.

Volunteers
Pre-Games Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart of the Games. It is as a result of hundreds of volunteers that spectators will remember the Games for a lifetime and athletes will truly be able to Live the Dream!
The aim of the Pre-Games Volunteer program is to engage the community prior to the Games, by providing assistance to organizers and at events.
It is the enthusiasm, commitment and friendliness of volunteers that will allow us to provide enjoyable and organized Games next year for the people of the Pacific. Samoans always show a unique spirit to help others – whether it is in their workplace, in the church or in the village. Whenever the need has arisen, Samoans have been there to help each other and lend support to their fellow countrymen.
These attributes we know will prevail among all Samoans throughout the 2007 XIII South Pacific Games and will leave the communities of Samoa with a legacy of trained, able and committed volunteers.
Over the few months of training prior to the games the volunteers will become familiar with all the venues and learn everything they need to carry out their jobs, which will range from assisting in the press room to transport and athlete support.
As a volunteer you will have the chance to participate in the largest sporting event in the Pacific region and to witness the action as it unfolds closer to Games-time.
As Games-time approaches, you will have the thrill not only of seeing world-renowned athletes training and preparing, but of knowing that your hard work is helping these great sporting stars fulfill their destiny and to compete at their very best.
